NEW ORLEANS – Two individual event groups within the University at Albany track & field program earned top-20 national rankings this week as calculated by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
 
The men's 60m group pulled in a national ranking of 15, with a cumulative time of 26.92 and an average of 6.73 among the program's top-four competitors.  Travis Williams headlines the group with his record-setting 6.59, followed by Shak Williams' 6.66.  Both Travis and Shak have surpassed the previous school record of 6.67 set by current UAlbany short sprints coach Junior Burnett in 2007.  Lucas Casab (6.83) and Garry Munro (6.84) round out the men's squad.
 
The women's weight throw group ranks 20th nationally just ahead of conference championships.  Ludith Campos won the event at the Millrose games with a season-best 66-09.25.  Shelby Bigsby ranks second on the team after setting a personal-best of three feet at the Millrose Games to place third overall, 64-10.00.  Steph Green also set a season-best at Millrose, with a 59-03.50.  Finally, Kiki Nosile has recorded a season-best mark of 40-09.75.  The women cumulatively total 231-09.00 and average 57-11.25.
 
USTFCCCA #EventSquad rankings places a rank order to a program's "squad" of athletes in a particular event, using the cumulative season-best qualifying marks from a team's top-four ranked athletes on the national descending-order list. As with the national descending-order list for qualifying and seeding purposes, marks are subject to be converted due to track size and/or altitude. A team must have four or more athletes with a valid season-best mark recorded with TFRRS to achieve a ranking in a particular event.
 
America East Indoor Championships begin February 18.  Campos, S. Williams, and Bigsby are defending event champions in the women's weight throw, men's 60m, and women's shot put, respectively.
