Leading the Pack
- Gerald Drumgoole Jr. continues to lead the Great Danes in scoring, averaging 15.4 points per game. That mark places him third in the entire conference behind Bryant's Gross-Bullock (17.6) and New Hampshire's Daniels (15.5). Drumgoole Jr. is also averaging 5.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.2 steals.
- Jonathan Beagle has now won the conference's Rookie of the Week Award seven times. That mark ties him with Jon Iati (2003-04) for the most in UAlbany's history. The rookie is averaging 11.9 points and posting 6.9 rebounds per game. His rebounding mark put him sixth in the entire America East.
- Aaron Reddish sits third on the team in scoring, averaging nine points per outing. He's shooting at a 39.2% clip from beyond the arc and a 45.8% clip from the field. He has had back-to-back 11-point performances coming against Bryant and Binghamton last week.
- Freshman Marcus Jackson has made himself a main stay in the Great Danes' starting lineup, starting in 16 of 24 games. The rookie hasn't taking very many shot, but has been effective while doing so – shooting at a clip of 46.3%.
- UAlbany is averaging 66.3 points per game with opponents averaging 75.4 points.
- The Great Danes are shooting 40.8% from the field, 32.2% from beyond the arc, and 70.4% from the charity stripe.
- UAlbany averages 33.2 rebounds per game with opponents averaging 34.1.
Last Time Out
The UAlbany men's basketball team was unable to hang on late against SUNY rival Binghamton on Saturday afternoon, falling 80-66 in overtime. The Great Danes held the lead in the final minute, but a costly turnover was all the Bearcats needed to tie the game within 20 seconds to force the extra period. The tight game between the two conference foes featured nine ties and three lead changes.
- Gerald Drumgoole Jr. led all scorers with 21 points. He went 7-17 from the field, finishing with six rebounds and two assists.
- Jonathan Beagle finished one rebound short of a double-double. The freshman posted 19 points and nine boards, also finishing with two assists, a steal, and a block.
- Aaron Reddish dropped 11 points in 35 minutes of action, adding four rebounds.
- Trey Hutcheson grabbed six rebounds in 32 minutes, posting four points.
- UAlbany shot 44.2% (2352) from the field and went 5-19 from three-point range. Binghamton shot 50.9% (29-57) from the field and went 9-15 from deep.
- Binghamton won the rebounding battle, 39-33.
- UAlbany finished with 15 turnovers, Binghamton had 12.
Scouting UMBC
UMBC comes into Wednesday's game with an overall record of 17-10 and a conference mark of 7-5. The Retrievers have won back-to-back games heading into this matchup, posting wins against NJIT (72-63) and Bryant (76-73), both at home.
- Three Retrievers are averaging double-figures in Colton Lawrence (12.4), Jacob Boonyasith (11.2), and Matteo Picarelli (10.0).
- Lawrence leads the team in attempts, shooting at a clip of 42.4% from the field. He and Boonysith have almost identical numbers from beyond the arc, with Lawrence shooting 35.6% on 118 attempts and Boonyasith shooting 35.2% on 122 attempts.
- Yaw Obeng-Mensah leads the team in rebounding, averaging 6.4 boards per outing. Tra'Von Fagan follows closely behind, averaging 6.0.
- As a team, the Retrievers are averaging 75.3 points per game with opponents averaging 72.7.
- The Retrievers are shooting 45.7% from the field, 35.4% from three-point range, and 73.9% from the free throw line.
Last Time Against UMBC
UAlbany last played UMBC on Jan. 5, a road matchup in which the Retrievers won by a score of 92-83. Five different Great Danes finished in double figures, led by
Gerald Drumgoole Jr. with 26 points. UMBC's offense proved to be too much however, as the Retrievers would go on to shoot over 50% from the field en route to the win.

- Drumgoole Jr. went a perfect 9-9 from the charity stripe and led the team with three steals.
- Patel had a team-high 10 rebounds, leading him to finish with his first double-double of the season.
- Beagle followed close behind with nine rebounds and had a team-high four assists.
- Reddish found his shooting groove once again, going 4-6 from three and breaking a four-game drought where he didn't hit double figures.
- UAlbany shot 43.5% (27-62) from the field and 36.4% (12-33) from deep. UMBC shot 54.0% (34-63) from the field and 22.7% (5-22) from three.
- UAlbany won the rebounding war, 38-31.
- UAlbany finished with 13 turnovers, UMBC had just six.

The America East men's basketball season is two-thirds of the way complete the standings are as tight as ever. Five teams are within one game of second place as stretch run begins and teams battle for a top four seed and the right to host a Jersey Mike's #AEPlayoffs game.
- Vermont extended its win streak to seven games with a pair of wins last week.
- The Catamounts top the league standings at 9-2, two games up on second-place Binghamton.
- The Bearcats posted back-to-back wins and have won three of their last four overall to leap into second place at 7-4.
- Four teams have five losses, led by UMBC, which beat both NJIT and Bryant last week.
- UMass Lowell won its 20th game last week, a first for the program at the Division I level.
- Bryant's Sherif Gross-Bullock scored an America East season-high 39 points vs. UMBC on Saturday.
- Maine's 10 wins are its most since the 2012-13 season. The Black Bears beat UMBC on Saturday.
Conference positioning will again prove key for the Jersey Mikes #AEPlayoffs. Every round of the Jersey Mikes #AEPlayoffs will take place on the higher seed's home court and earning home court advantage will prove crucial once again. The league champion will earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship, where America East teams have won nine games all-time, including UMBC's historic upset of Virginia in 2018.

- Averaged 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds over two games last week.
- Had 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting and nine boards at Binghamton on Saturday.
- This is Beagle's seventh Rookie of the Week honor of the season.
- His seven Rookie of the Week honors are tied for third-most in conference history and the most since Sam Sessoms collected seven for Binghamton during the 2018-19 season.
