BOSTON - The University at Albany field hockey's
Alison Smisdom was named the America East Defensive Player of the Week, announced Tuesday.
An Antwerp, Belgium native, Smisdom led the Great Danes to a victory over Maine on Friday, September 29. A member of a defense that allowed just one goal for the Black Bears, Smisdom totaled three points from one goal and one assist. Remaining undefeated in conference play, the Great Danes improved one spot on the NFHCA Poll.
After six weekends of action, Smisdom is first on the team with 12 goals and 28 points.
This award marks Smisdom's second of the season, eighth of her career, and the team's third of the season. Smisdom's Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 12) and Mara Küskes' Rookie of the Week (Sept. 26) were the team's first and second, respectively.
UAlbany returns to action with two home games this weekend - UC Davis (Oct. 6) and Stanford (Oct. 8).
