BOSTON – For the sixth time this season, and third week in a row, men's basketball freshman
Jonathan Beagle has been named the America East Conference Rookie of the Week.
In UAlbany's lone game last week, Beagle had a team-high 17 points against top America East team Binghamton. The rookie went 7-11 from the field in 35 minutes of action, bringing down seven rebounds, dishing out two assists, and collecting a steal.
This is the sixth time Beagle has won the conference's Rookie of the Week award, also claiming the title on Nov. 14, Nov. 28, Dec. 27, Jan. 9, and Jan. 16.
UAlbany's record for most Rookie of the Week titles is seven, set by Jon Iati during the 2003-04 season. Last year, sophomore
Justin Neely claimed six rookie titles to take sole possession of second place in UAlbany's record books, eventually being named the conference's Rookie of the Year. Beagle's award this week officially ties Neely in the record books with over a month of the season still remaining.
