Key Stats

Head Coach Sade Ayinde: "We had a good start and a great first goal by Selma. We just fell a step behind La Salle as the game went on and they took advantage of that. Meg came up with a big-time save on the first PK attempt and we still had some good chances to get back in the game in the second half, but there are definitely lessons to be learned from this match."
How it Happened
- In the fifth minute, freshman Selma Elverum ripped a shot from an odd angle on the left side of the La Salle box, beating the Explorers' goalkeeper Michela Auguadro wide to give UAlbany an early 1-0 lead. It would be one of just two shots on which the Great Danes would test Auguadro during the game.
- Despite the deficit, La Salle controlled possession in the first half convincingly, holding the ball for 59% of time. The Explorers' offense could not break through the Great Danes' defense, however, and the teams went into halftime with UAlbany up 1-0.
- La Salle drew a penalty kick in the 50th minute. UAlbany goalkeeper Megan Hart dove to her left, denying La Salle's Richsya Walker the equalizer.
- The Explorers drew a second penalty kick in the 52nd minute. This time, Alyssa Gargiulo successfully converted the attempt, tying the game at one.
- In the 67th minute, La Salle scored again when Kelli McGroarty beat Hart low off a setup from Courtney Butlion. La Salle's control of possession and shot pressure gave the Explorers a 2-1 lead,
- UAlbany created one final chance when Sahara Zingano received a through ball behind the La Salle defense, but was called offsides before her shot attempt.
- La Salle held on to win by the same 2-1 score, and outshot UAlbany 13-2 in the second half.
Next: UAlbany returns home to host Cornell on September 7.
