How it Happened
- After being held scoreless in their first four games of the season, UAlbany has found the net in each of the previous three. On Wednesday, the Great Danes broke through in the ninth minute. Selma Elverum ripped a shot from close range that was saved by Cornell goalkeeper Nicole Shulman. The ball rebounded towards far-side trailer Olivia Piraino, who fired a shot that beat Shulman to put UAlbany up 1-0.
- Despite the deficit, Cornell held UAlbany to just two total shots in the first half, while taking five of their own. Possession was even through the first 45 minutes, and UAlbany took a 1-0 lead into the second half.
- Cornell knotted the game at one in the 69th minute when Aidan Julia Reineman converted a setup from Ashley Durik. The Great Danes pulled even with Cornell in shots taken after halftime, each team tallying seven apiece.
- UAlbany pressed their advantage late into the half, creating several promising opportunities deep in Cornell territory. The Big Red defense held, however, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
- UAlbany took nine total shots in the game, though only two were on target. Cornell finished with 12 shots, four of which were on target. UAlbany held Cornell without a corner kick in the second half, while taking four of their own.Â
