Football ‘Pink Game’ Set for Oct. 29

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany football program will host its annual "Pink Game" at 1:00 p.m. on Oct. 29 against rival Stony Brook to support The American Cancer Society. This game gives the community a unique opportunity to honor a loved one who has been impacted by any type of cancer.

By making a donation of $50, one can honor someone by having his or her name displayed on the back of a UAlbany football player's helmet. In addition, this donation will include two (2) game tickets.

Tribute Helmet donations must be submitted by Oct. 12, 2022.

The UAlbany Athletic Department planned this game in support of its Director of Athletics, Mark Benson, and Head Football Coach, Greg Gattuso, who have committed to taking a stand against breast cancer, together, through the American Cancer Society's 2022 Real Men Wear Pink campaign.

"I'm excited to once again be a part of the Real Men Wear Pink campaign," Benson said. "We continue to enjoy a great partnership with the American Cancer Society. Unfortunately, cancer touches everyone. I'm pleased to be teaming up this year with Coach Gattuso, and we're looking forward to supporting the Real Men Wear Pink Campaign again this season."

"We are very excited to have this game on our schedule, it's one of our favorites of the year," said Coach Gattuso. "The American Cancer Society does an amazing job working with our team and athletic department to put on a great event while raising money for such an important cause. We can't wait to see our fans wearing pink on October 29th in support."

Lizzie Hunter of the American Cancer Society added, "ACS is so grateful to the University at Albany for their many years of partnership helping us raise millions of dollars through various events and programs such as the pink game and Coaches vs. Cancer. Funds raised allow the Society to help save lives from breast cancer through early detection and prevention, innovative breast cancer research, and patient support."
