Field Hockey Picked Second

BOSTON - The University at Albany field hockey program has been picked to finish second in the 2022 America East Preseason Coaches' Poll, the conference announced Thursday. 
 
Defending America East Regular-Season and Tournament Champion Maine earned six first-place votes for 60 points to rank at the top of the preseason poll. The Great Danes, who visited the America East Championship in 2021, follow with two first-place votes for 55 points.
 
Stanford rounds out the top three teams with one first-place vote and 49 points.
 
Behind the top three, New Hampshire earned 42 points followed by California (36 points) and UMass Lowell (31 points). Vermont (25), UC Davis (17), and Bryant (9) round out the conference.
 
Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own team.
 
The Great Danes are set to kick off the season with a weekend of home competition, August 27-28. After hosting a neutral game between Ohio State and Northeastern on Friday, August 26, UAlbany will go against the Huskies on Saturday before seeing the Buckeyes on Sunday.
