ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany field hockey team is set for a competitive fall as the Great Danes announced their 2022 schedule, Wednesday.
 
This year's slate includes 12 home games to be held at Alumni Turf and features two contests against Big Ten opponents with one ACC and one Atlantic 10 matchup each.
 
"Our 2022 schedule is a challenging one," said head coach Phil Sykes. "We have a good variety of opponents this season. We are excited to welcome two Big Ten teams and an ACC team to UAlbany. I think we will get tested in our non-league games and it will prepare us well for our conference games."
 
The 2022 season begins at home for the second season in a row. The Great Danes will welcome Northeastern and Ohio State on August 27-28.
 
Seeing its first home/away split of the season, UAlbany will face two 2021 NCAA Tournament participants on September 3-4. The Great Danes host the 2021 NCAA Tournament fourth-seeded Nittany Lions from Penn State on the third before heading to NEC Champion Fairfield for an afternoon contest on Sept. 4.
 
UAlbany will continue with a second split weekend seeing play at Colgate (Sept. 9) before hosting Cornell (Sept. 11) and Yale (Sept. 18). 
 
America East play begins as the Great Danes welcome California to the Capital Region (Sept. 23). UAlbany will head to Orono on September 25 for a rematch of the 2021 America East Championship against Maine.
 
The Great Danes host Vermont to close out September and begin a five-game home streak. ACC foe Boston College (Oct. 2), Stanford (Oct. 7), UC Davis (Oct. 9), and UMass Lowell (Oct. 14) visit Alumni Turf to open October.
 
UAlbany heads back on the road for two contests against UMass (Oct. 16) and New Hampshire (Oct. 21). 
 
Concluding the regular season, the Great Danes will host a new conference opponent, Bryant, on October 28.
 
UAlbany will look for its first conference tournament title since 2018 as the America East Tournament will be played from Nov. 3-6, hosted by the league's regular-season champion.
