BOSTON – University at Albany rising junior Katie Pascale has been named America East Spring Scholar-Athlete for women's lacrosse, the conference announced Thursday.
 
"My coaches, teammates, and staff members at UAlbany provide a path for success on and off the field," said Pascale.
 
The America East announced its full list of six Scholar-Athletes for the spring 2022 season, with one representative selected for each of the conference's sponsored spring sports.  Pascale, UAlbany's only Scholar-Athlete for the 2021-22 academic year, is the women's lacrosse program's 10th Scholar-Athlete, and fourth-straight behind Jordyn Marr's three-straight awards from 2019-21.
 
"We are proud of Katie's accomplishment as America East Scholar-Athlete," said head coach Katie Thomson.  "Katie truly exemplifies what it means to be a student-athlete as she is just as dedicated to her academic studies as she is to her athletic success.  She is a great ambassador not only to our program but to the University at Albany, and takes a lot of pride in representing both at a high level."
 
Pascale had a banner year in 2022, scoring 43 goals with 39 assists for a total of 82 points.  She led the team in assists and points, led the America East in assists per game, total assists, and points per game, and ranked 12th nationally in assists per game and 13th in total assists.  Inside Lacrosse selected Pascale as their Preseason America East Offensive Player of the Year, and Pascale later went on to earn America East All-Conference First Team and All-Championship Accolades, in addition to IWCA All-Northeast First Team and Inside Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-America Honors.  Finally, Pascale jumped into the top-10 in program history in career assists (68), single-season assists (39), and single-season points (82).
 
Academically, Pascale earned a 3.78 GPA studying Accounting with a minor in Business, and earned America East All-Academic accolades.
 
To qualify as an America East Scholar-Athlete, an individual must be a starter or prominent reserve on their team and hold a GPA of 3.50 or higher.  Pascale is now a finalist for the America East Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, to be announced in July.
