ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany softball team heads to Binghamton for their final conference game.

GREAT DANE REWIND
  • UAlbany opened the 2022 season with three five-game tournaments. At the Winthrop Eagle Tournament (Feb. 18-20), the team collected a 2-3 record before tallying a 3-2 record at the 2022 Spring Games at Madeira Beach (Mar. 3-5). The Great Danes saw two losses at Towson (3/11) before the rest of the tournament was canceled due to weather.
  • Seeing five non-conference doubleheaders, so far, UAlbany has swept CCSU (3/16), Army (4/6), and Siena (4/21) while splitting the Colgate (3/26) and Marist (3/30) doubleheaders.
  • Starting conference play at UMBC (April 2-3), the Great Danes swept Maine (April 9-10) after going 1-2 against the Retrievers.
  • Since hosting the Black Bears, UAlbany has gone 2-1 over both Hartford (April 15-16) and UMass Lowell (April 23-24) while sweeping a doubleheader against Binghamton (4/13).
  • Most recently, the Great Danes fell in the series at Stony Brook (April 30-May 1). UAlbany took the second game of the doubleheader, 10-6, but SBU took games one and three. 
 
AT THE PLATE
  • Morgan Petty leads the team batting 44-117 for a .376 batting average and a .692 slugging percentage. The junior owns a team-high eight home runs and 40 RBI. 
  • Katie Falotico (.371), Maddi Petrella (.330), and Maranda Jimenez (.305) follow with their respective batting averages. 
  • Falotico leads the team with 15 doubles and four triples. Her .39 doubles per game is good for ninth in the nation.
  • Alexis Phillips leads the team, and the conference, with 32 runs. 
  • Six Great Danes have totaled double-digit RBI - Petty has compiled 40 for the team-high while Falotico (34), Petrella (26), Jimenez (22), Lové Drumgole (11), and Phillips (10) follow.
 
IN THE FIELD
  • Falotico leads the defense with 184 putouts; Petrella follows closely with 143.
  • Lové Drumgole leads with 76 assists.
  • Falotico and Drumgole have contributed to eight double-plays each to lead the team.
  • Six different Great Danes have seen the circle.
  • Wendi Hammond has seen the most time with 124.2 innings pitched and 95 strikeouts. The junior has pitched 10 complete games, including one shutout, with 19 starts, 1 save, and a 13-8 record in the circle. 
  • Briana Garrett and Maranda Jimenez follow, each tallying 37.0 innings pitched. Garrett owns two complete games, including one shutout, and six starts while Jimenez has totaled four complete games and 1 save with six starts. 
 
ABOUT BINGHAMTON
  • The Bearcats are 19-19 on the season with a 6-6 record in the America East.
  • Playing four tournaments to open the season, Binghamton held an 11-10 record through the first six weeks of play.
  • Before the start of conference play, two doubleheaders and one single game added two wins and three losses.
  • The Bearcats opened their America East schedule splitting a two-game series at UMass Lowell (April 9-10) before falling at UAlbany in a doubleheader (4/13) and a two-game series against Stony Brook (April 16-17).
  • For their last two series, Binghamton beat Maine with two wins, to one loss, on April 23-24, and swept Hartford (April 30-May 1).
  • Alayna Harbaugh leads the team with a .320 batting average and 39 hits.
  • Owning a team-high 23 RBI, 13 doubles, and six home runs, Sarah Rende also leads with a .577 slugging percentage.
  • Seeing a team-high 115.2 innings pitched, Allison L'Amoreaux has struck out 92 batters with eight complete games, two shutouts, and nine wins in 20 starts.
  • In the field, Alex Musial leads with 139 putouts while Makayla Alvarez owns a team-high 58 assists and nine double-plays.
 
SERIES AGAINST THE BEARCATS
  • The Great Danes lead the Division I series, 49-12.
  • Earlier in the 2022 season, UAlbany swept a midweek doubleheader against Binghamton (April 13).
  • During the 2021 season, the series was tied, 2-2.
  • UAlbany won both games in the doubleheader on Saturday (Apr. 3, 2021) and Binghamton won both games in the Sunday (Apr. 4, 2021) doubleheader.
  • In game one, Morgan Petty and Maddi Petrella each hit a home run. Petrella led with three RBI in the 11-2 win. Maranda Jimenez pitched the five-inning win.
  • Game two saw a 6-2 UAlbany victory. Katie Falotico hit a homer while Alexis Phillips notched a triple. Briana Garrett pitched the full game. 
  • UAlbany held a 2-0 lead after the top of the seventh before Binghamton hit a walk-off homer to take the third game, 4-2, before winning the fourth, 3-2.
 
PICKED THIRD
  • The Great Danes were picked to finish third in the 2022 America East Preseason Coaches' Poll. 
  • UAlbany tallied 27 points and no first-place votes.
  • UMBC topped the poll with 35 points and five first-place votes while Stony Brook followed with 29 points and two first-place votes.
  • Binghamton (20), UMass Lowell (18), Maine (12), and Hartford (6) followed to close out the poll.

  • Stony Brook leads the conference with a 9-4 America East record.
