Women's Golf Heads to Disney for MAAC Championships

ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany's women's golf team heads to Disney to compete in the MAAC Championship, April 22-24.
 
The championship tournament will take place at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The three-day event will begin on Friday, April 22. All MAAC women's golf teams will compete for the conference title - Dayton, Fairfield, Hartford, La Salle, Monmouth, Niagara, Quinnipiac, Siena, and UAlbany.
 
The first tee time on Friday will be at 9 am. Overall, the event will feature three rounds of play over three days.

SPRING INTO ACTION
  • The Great Danes competed in four spring tournaments - the Columbia Classic (Feb. 13-14), the FGCU/WKU Spring Break Shootout (Mar. 13-14), the Georgia State Invitational (Mar. 28-29), and the Hartford/Gillette Ridge Invitational (Apr. 15-16).
  • Senior Pasqualina Tartaglione finished 60th with a +24 to lead the team in February. 
  • Senior Madison Walker opened the spring season with a team round-low of +3 in the first round. She notched two birdies and four bogeys to earn the score at the Columbia Classic.
  • The team's competitors saw consistent golfing in their most recent tournament. Two Great Danes' round scores varied by as low as two strokes and only as high as six strokes.
  • In the second round of the Spring Break Shootout, the Great Danes tallied a team score of 290, the lowest score of the round, to move up four team places. UAlbany continued its low scoring with a 291 in the final round of competition.
  • Led by the seniors, the Great Danes finished fourth with a team score of 656 in two rounds at the Hartford/Gillette Ridge Invitational. Walker and Tartaglione tied with a two-round score of 162 for ninth overall. Tartaglione saw the round-low with a +3 in the second round.
  • Overall, the Great Danes totaled 13 birdies throughout the three rounds of the Columbia Classic. UAlbany added 38 birdies and two eagles at the Shootout and 18 birdies at the GSU Invitational.
