ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany volleyball team returns home after two road trips to host Siena for their first-ever School Supplies Night.
Siena and UAlbany's women's volleyball teams will be collecting school supplies during their crosstown contest. All supplies collected will be donated to a local organization.
Masks will be required inside all buildings on campus.

GREAT DANE REWIND
- UAlbany opened their home slate with the Crowne Plaza Albany - The Desmond Hotel Volleyball Classic on September 3. The Great Danes closed the tournament defeating Cornell, 3-1 on Sept. 4.
- UAlbany opened their season with a 1-2 record at the Syracuse Tournament (Aug. 27-28), defeating UB (Aug. 28), 3-0, for their first win of the season, before beating Marist, 3-1, on Tuesday (Aug. 31). The Great Danes traveled to Texas for the Texas A&M Invitational (Sept. 10-11) and, most recently, competed in the Jayhawk Classic hosted by the University of Kansas (Sept. 17-18).
- Four student-athletes, including two freshmen, have seen all 49 sets on the season - junior Kamara Kelly, senior Charlotte Macken, freshman Elaina Wamhoff, and freshman Anissia Wong. Junior Malea Stanton and freshman Oren Abutbul have seen the court for all but one set (48 sets).
- Abutbul leads the offense with 19 kills, 2.48 kills/set, and 138.5 points.
- Stanton and Wamhoff serve as the team's main setters. Stanton leads with 238 assists and 4.96 assists/set. Wamhoff follows with 190 assists and 3.88 assists/set.
- Macken owns a team-high on both offense and defense. She leads with 17 service aces, 207 digs, and 4.22 digs/set.
- Wong leads the blockers with 56.0 total blocks, including five solo blocks, and 1.14 blocks/set.
- Other Great Dane standouts include freshman Lilou Stegeman (second on the team with 42.0 blocks), Kelly (second with 104 kills and 2.12 kills/set), senior Regan Wright (second with 13 service aces, 113 digs, and 2.51 digs/set)
ABOUT SIENA
- With an overall record of 0-12, the Saints have yet to earn a win on the season. They have played five sets on three occasions with four matches going to four sets.
- Siena played in two tournaments - Rumble in the Rockies hosted by Wyoming (Aug. 27-28) and Holly Young Invitational hosted by New Hampshire (Sept. 3-4) - before hosting their own tournament - the Crowne Plaza Albany - The Desmond Siena Invitational (Sept. 10-11).
- On Sept. 15, the Saints hosted Binghamton before heading to the Buffalo area to open conference play at Canisius (Sept. 18) and Niagara (Sept. 19).
- Emily Wunder leads the offense with 109 kills and 2.53 kills/set and Gracie Halley leads the defense with 147 digs and 3.20 digs/set.
- On the block, Abby Huffman leads with 30.0 total blocks, including four solo blocks.
- Claire Isaksen owns 234 assists as the Saints' main setter while Megan Johnsson follows with 154.
- Three Siena athletes have served at least 10 service aces. Johnsson ranks third on the team with 10 and Isaksen and Halley are tied for first with 12.
SERIES AGAINST THE SAINTS
- The Great Danes lead the crosstown series, 12-4.
- UAlbany has won the last two matches in the series, in 2018 & 2019.
- The longest win streak for the Great Danes was between 2002 and 2009 when UAlbany won eight games.
- The Great Danes won their last match against the Saints, 3-0. Six athletes from the team that played Siena in 2019 are still on the team - Malea Stanton, Grace Cozad, Danielle Tedesco, Charlotte Macken, Anna Chalupa, and Noa Brach.
AROUND THE AMERICA EAST
- Conference play begins on Friday and a few teams are fitting in some midweek games against non-conference opponents prior to the weekend.
- Currently, New Hampshire leads the conference with a 7-6 overall record.
- Stony Brook follows while Binghamton (4-8) and UMBC (5-10) are tied with a .333 winning percentage.
- UAlbany (3-10), Hartford (2-10), and NJIT (1-11) round out the conference.

WHAT'S UP, PRESEASON
- The Great Dane volleyball team was picked to finish first in the conference in the preseason coaches' poll. UMBC and New Hampshire were voted into a tie for second place.
- UAlbany added seven new players to the roster for the 2021 season.

- The Great Danes will head to Binghamton for the first conference game of the season on Sunday, September 26.
