CHICAGO – University at Albany running back Karl Mofor has been named to the 2021 Walter Payton Award Watch List.

Mofor, a senior from Greenbelt, Md., has already been named 2021 CAA Preseason All-Conference and Stats FCS Preseason All-America Second Team.  He led the CAA with 115.0 rushing yards per game during the spring 2021 season, earning Second Team All-CAA and Stats FCS All-America Honors.

The Walter Payton Award, named for the legendary running back, enters its 35th season and is presented to the national offensive player of the year in college football's Division I subdivision. The Payton has served as a stepping-stone for such NFL players as Steve McNair, Tony Romo, Brian Westbrook, Jimmy Garoppolo, Cooper Kupp and Trey Lance. A national media panel will select the winner after the regular season.
