Head Coach Leigh Howard: "First off, our staff is very thankful for how flexible Simon and his staff were willing to be to make the adjustments to get this game underway.  We knew that this Hofstra side would be a great test for our team with how much success they've had and who they brought back for another year.  We are very pleased with the growth our group showed since we played Hofstra last season and, though we are disappointed with the result, we know that this is the type of matchup that better prepares us for what we will face this season."

How it Happened
  • Fifteen minutes elapsed in the game before eight team broke through with their first shot.  Jasmine Colbert found an opening in the Hofstra defense through to Pride goalkeeper Skylar Kuzmich, who made the save.
  • Five minutes later, Colbert ripped a shot, high over the goal.  From the 21st minute on, Hofstra would outshoot UAlbany 18-6.
  • The Pride's first shot game in the 27th minute, an attempt which was blocked and led to a corner kick.  Hofstra rolled off a sequence of three shots, the first two of which were saved by UAlbany goalkeeper Sophia Chen, before the third sailed wide of the net.
  • Hofstra scored the first goal of the game off a corner kick, when Georgia Brown found the back of the net off the serve from Miri Taylor from the corner.
  • UAlbany trailed by the same score, 1-0, to start the second half.  Hofstra doubled their lead in the 56th minute when Brown collected a serve deep in the UAlbany box, had two point-blank shots saved by Chen, before her third found the back of the net.
  • UAlbany drew five corner kicks in the second half, but ultimately could not break through and fell in their opener 2-0.  Colbert accounted for half of UAlbany's shots on the day.
