Head Coach Leigh Howard: "Tonight's result was disappointing both in not being able to come away from the game with any points, but also in the way it unfolded. Coming back to tie the game up gave us a good amount of momentum, but we need to do a better job of holding onto that and the ball. They did a great job of making us uncomfortable and coming out to win in those final moments, and we need to answer that call moving forward."
Â
How it Happened
- CCSU applied the pressure on offense right away, breaking through with a header shot that fell wide in the second minute of the game. UAlbany drew a corner kick in the sixth minute, applying their own offensive pressure.
- The Blue Devils scored early, in the 10th minute, when Abbey Chase converted a setup fron Erica Bardes. In the 17th minute, Jada Colbert's shot was saved by CCSU goalkeeper Amanda McQuillan.
- UAlbany tied the game at one in the 21st minute when Natasha Fowler-Varon scored on a setup from Marisa Tava. It was UAlbany's first goal of the 2021 season.
- The next 69 minutes went by without either team scoring. CCSU outshot UAlbany 14-7 over the course of the game, but UAlbany had six shots on target, compared to five for the Blue Devils.
- CCSU broke through in the 90th minute, with just 42 seconds remaining in regulation, with a second and game-clinching goal, when Bardes found Kelly Brady to seal the game 2-1 in the Blue Devil's favor.Â
