ALBANY, N.Y. – Jonathan Beagle, a 6-9, 230 pound forward, has signed a national letter of intent to join the University at Albany Great Danes for the 2022-23 season. Beagle is spending his postgraduate year playing at St. Thomas More in Oakdale, Conn.
Beagle is a player local to the Albany community, hailing Hudson Falls, N.Y., just an hour north of UAlbany's campus. He played high school ball at Hudson Falls before transferring to prep school in Connecticut. He's well known in the Capital Region, having also played AAU with Albany City Rocks.
"Coach Killings and the staff are going to put UAlbany on the map," said Beagle. "I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to be a part of something that special."
"The first time we met as a staff, Jonathan was the number one priority in recruiting for his character, versatility and winning approach to the game," said UAlbany Head Coach
Dwayne Killings. "To get this program to where we want, we have to be able to keep the top talent in the Capital Region at home. Jonathan and his family are a welcome addition to our program, family, and community. People are going to love cheering for a hometown favorite."
His last season with Albany City Rocks, an AAU program in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) and one of the top such leagues in the nation, Beagle averaged 14 points per game while shooting 56% from the field. He also brought in 4.2 rebounds per game and shot 85.7% from the free throw line.
