LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University at Albany women's volleyball team has earned Team Academic honors from the United States Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association, announced Monday.
 
This is the fourth-straight season UAlbany has earned the Team Academic distinction, and the sixth overall, having first done so following the 2007 season.
 
A total of 1,315 teams were recognized for their academic performance during the 2019-20 season, an increase of nearly 200 teams from 2018-19's record number.  Among Division I programs, 68% of teams qualified for the distinction.  Additionally, 232 programs were honored for the first time across all categories.
 
Established during the 1992-93 academic year, the USMC/AVCA Team Academic award honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long GPA of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or a 4.10 or higher on a 5.0 scale.
