SEATTLE – Three Great Danes have found spots on the 2020 HERO Sports Preseason CAA All-Conference team, announced Wednesday.
Karl Mofor and
LJ Wesneski were named to the offensive team and
Levi Metheny was named for defense.
Mofor, a senior running back from Greenbelt, Md., was named HERO Sports First Team All-America Offense earlier in the offseason. He rushed for 1,290 yards on 264 carries in 2019, finding the end zone 10 times.
Wesneski, a redshirt-senior tight end from Plymouth, Pa., was a Third-Team All-CAA selection in 2019, reeling in seven touchdowns on 21 total receptions for 277 yards.
Metheny, a redshirt-senior linebacker from Bethel Park, Pa., adds another preseason accolade to his resume, having been named HERO Sports Preseason All-America Second Team Defense earlier this offseason. Metheny led the Great Danes with 120 tackles last season, leading the CAA with 63 solo tackles.
The Great Danes went 9-5 overall in 2019 and finished second in the CAA behind a 6-2 conference record. UAlbany won its first-ever FCS Playoff game, 42-14 over Central Connecticut State, before falling in the second round at Montana State.
