GILBERT, Ariz. — The University at Albany field hockey team has been honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) with the Academic Team Award. UAlbany was one of 76 teams nationally that were honored.
This marks the 10th straight season that UAlbany has been honored with the award, and the 13th time since the award's inception in 2003.
The Division I National Academic Team Award recognizes programs that earned a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the 2018-19 school year.
The Great Danes are coming off the program's six America East Tournament Championship and sixth NCAA tournament appearance. UAlbany finished the season with a 16-5 record, including a 6-2 clip in conference play. The Great Danes had two All-Americans, four All-Region players and eight players garner America East All-Conference honors.
