ALBANY, N.Y. — Following another successful weekend for the University at Albany track and field program, a pair of Great Danes were awarded by the America East for their performances. 

Chidinma Matthew and Sidney Gibbons swept the conference weekly awards, earning the titles of Female and Male Track Performers of the Week.

Matthew competed in both the Crimson Elite Invitational and the Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational. The Yonkers, N.Y. native put forth impressive performances in the 60 meter dash and 200 meter run, boasting times of 7.57 and 24.31, respectively. Matthew times are both conference best. She is No. 5 all-time in the 60m and 200m dash.

Gibbons took home first place in the men's 60 meter hurdles at the Crimson Elite Invitational with a time of 7.82. His performance currently ranks 18th in the nation. This is Gibbons first career Performer of the Week award. This ties his own school record from last year at Dr. Sander Columbia Challenge
