Albany, N.Y. —The UAlbany volleyball team will open its 2018 home slate on Sunday, Sept. 23, when they welcome Siena to University Gym as part of High School Volleyball Night. The contest is slated to begin at 2 p.m. and admission to the match is free to the public.
As part of High School Volleyball Night, the first 100 fans will receive 2018 team posters to be signed by the squad at the conclusion of the match.

Akuabata Okenwa was named to the Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan All-Tournament team as the Great Danes finished the weekend with a 1-2 clip. UAlbany concluded their final tournament game with a sweep vs. UAB on Saturday, Sept. 15. Three of the team's five wins this season have been straight set sweeps.
Digging Her Way to the Top
Nicole Otero earned her 1500th career dig on Sept. 7 against Western Illinois. Otero becomes just the fourth Great Dane to eclipse the 1,500-dig mark. Her 1,578 career digs put her fourth on the all-time career list.
Ace High
The Great Danes rank second in the American East Conference averaging 1.30 aces per set. Kelly Cameron and Danielle Tedesco's 0.33 and 0.32 aces per set are first and second, respectively, in the conference.

- Akuabata Okenwa was named the FGCU Invitational's Most Valuable Player, earning all-tournament honors. She was joined on the FGCU All-Tournament Team by Nicole Otero and Kelly Cameron
- Akuabata Okenwa earned Black Knight Invitational All-Tournament Honors on Sept. 1, after racking up 35 kills and seven blocks over the weekend.
- Senior Nicole Otero was named to the Sports Inform Classic All-Tournament Team on August 25 following a tournament-high 46 digs.
