ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany softball team has been selected to compete in the Eugene Regional announced Sunday during the NCAA Softball Selection Show. The Great Danes will play the top-seeded Oregon on Thursday, May 17th at 8:30 PM.
The Eugene regional will be played at and hosted by the University of Oregon.
Under the direction of head coach Chris Cannata, the UAlbany softball team captured the program's seventh America East Conference championship Sunday at Binghamton University. Coach Chris Cannata was named America East Coach of the Year at the awards banquet prior to the start of the America East tournament. The Great Danes defeated UMass Lowell twice on Sunday to win the title.
Comments From Coach Chris Cannata
"This is an amazing opportunity to travel out to the west coast and play the best team in the country. We have to switch gears very quickly. I wish we had a little bit more time to celebrate our America East title, but now it's time to prepare for Oregon."
