Two-Time AVCA JUCO All-American Nina Holmes Joins UAlbany Volleyball for 2016 Season

ALBANY, N.Y. – The UAlbany volleyball team has announced the addition of Nina Holmes, a two-time All-American at Feather River College, for the 2016 season.
Holmes joins UAlbany with two years of eligibility in 2016. She spent the last three years at Feather River College, a junior college, playing indoor volleyball in the fall of 2013 and 2014 and sand volleyball in the spring of 2015 and 2016.
She earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America honors in each year of indoor volleyball, including first team recognition as a sophomore.
“We are very excited to have Nina join the Great Dane volleyball program,” said UAlbany head coach MJ Engstrom. “Nina has an outstanding work ethic, is a leader both on and off the court plus is an exemplary student.”
As Feather River's libero, Holmes totaled 1,005 digs in her two-year indoor career, averaging 4.96 digs per set and leading the Golden Eagles to the 2014 final four in the California state tournament in junior college play.
A native of Chico, Holmes will be one of three California players on the roster in 2016 along with Akuabata Okenwa and Chloe Evering.
