No. 16/17 Football Earns Program?s Highest Rankings After Bye Week

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Coming off a bye week with a 4-0 record, the University at Albany football team jumped to No. 16 in the STATS FCS Top 25 poll and No. 17 in the FCS Coaches Poll, earning the program's highest ever rankings. The Great Danes were ranked 21st in both polls last week.

Previously, the Danes' highest national ranking in the media poll was 20th and in the coaches poll 18th, reached in Week 9 of 2012.

In 2016, UAlbany's defense is among the top in the nation, ranking first for turnover margin (+13) and turnovers gained (16), second for interceptions (9), third for fumbles recovered (7), third for scoring defense (15.0 ppg), fourth for kickoff return defense (14.8 yards), and eighth for red zone defense (0.643).

The Great Danes are one of eight FCS teams remaining with an unblemished record, and one of four CAA teams ranked in the Top 25.
