BURLINGTON, Vt. – The UAlbany men's lacrosse team will look to make it four-straight in America East play, heading north to Burlington to play Vermont on Saturday, April 4th at 1 p.m. at the Virtue Field.

The game will be broadcast live online for free on CatamounTV.  Tickets for the game are $5 for adults and $3 for those aged 2-17 and are available through the Vermont athletics website.

This is the first of two games in a row that UAlbany will play against America East competition on the road, taking on Binghamton on April 11th at 7 p.m.

The Great Danes had their six-game winning streak snapped on Thursday with a 17-12 defeat at #2/2 Syracuse, entering Saturday at 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the America East to stand alone in first place.  Vermont fell to Stony Brook at home last Saturday 21-12 for its second-straight defeat to stand at 3-8 overall and 1-1 in the America East, tying for fourth place in the league.

UAlbany is #9 in both the USILA coaches poll and the Inside Lacrosse media poll coming into this week.  Vermont is not ranked in either poll.

UAlbany has dominated Vermont in the overall series, winning all but one game against the Catamounts since 2002 for a 12-3 record.  UAlbany won 20-9 last year in the Capital District.

With 339 points in his career, Lyle Thompson is approaching the NCAA career points record, standing fourth all-time.  The record is currently held by Rob Pannell, who had 354 points from 2009-13 with Cornell.  Matt Danowski scored 353 points for Duke from 2004-08 while Joe Vasta got 343 points for Air Force from 1983-86.  Thompson is also fourth all-time in the NCAA in assists with 189.  Tim Nelson of N.C. State and Syracuse has the all-time lead with 221 with 1982-85.

Currently, Thompson leads all of DI in points and assists per game, standing with 27 goals and 33 assists for 60 points to quarterback the top scoring offense in all of DI at 17.67 goals a game.  Connor Fields, a four-time America East Rookie of the Week, stands as the team's leading goal-scorer with 32, adding 13 assists and 33 ground balls.  Seth Oakes completes the attack corps with 22 goals and three assists on the year.  Blaze Riorden stands inbetween the pipes, holding a 52.6 save % and allowing 11.25 goals per game.  Defending in front the crease, LSM Eric Cantor has 23 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers while freshmen Stone Sims and AJ Kluck have six and 10 caused turnovers respectively.

Vermont is 16th in DI scoring 12 goals a game and 66th in DI allowing 14.36 goals a contest.  Reigning America East Rookie of the Year Ian MacKay is the team's primary shooter, tallying 24 goals and 13 assists at attack.  Sophomore attack Cam Milligan is the quarterback with 22 goals and 26 assists while junior attack James Barlow leads Vermont with 26 goals.  The Catamounts have rotated two goalies, with sophomore Jon Kaplan primarily starting, allowing 15.31 goals a game with a 47.3 save %, and junior Justin Rosenberg serving as the backup, giving up 11.78 goals a game with a 51.2% save.
