ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany men's lacrosse team is officially in the 2025 NCAA Tournament and will open play against crosstown rival Siena in the Opening Round. The Great Danes will host the matchup on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium. Fans can catch all the action live on ESPN+.
The winner will advance to the NCAA First Round to take on No. 1 seed Cornell.

Leading the Pack
- Ryan Doherty continues to lead UAlbany in goals with 42 across 17 games. He's added 15 assists for 57 total points and ranks among the America East's top offensive threats. He had a team-high five points (3 goals, 2 assists) in the championship game against Bryant.
- Silas Richmond, the America East Offensive Player of the Year, tops the team in total points with 82, including 39 goals and a conference-leading 43 assists. He has recorded at least one point in every game this season and averages 4.82 points per contest. His point and assist averages both rank inside the top 10 in the NCAA.
- Koleton Marquis sits third in scoring with 24 goals and seven assists, followed by Daniel Kesselring with 14 goals and 11 assists.
- Jackson Palumb has chipped in 18 goals and four assists, while Amos Whitcomb and Alex Pfeiffer each have 13 goals.
- On the defensive end, Max Neeson, the America East Defensive Player of the Year, anchors the unit with a team-best 25 caused turnovers and 42 ground balls. He has also scored six goals with the long pole. He scored twice in the America East Championship Game.
- Jacob Smith ranks second on the team with 20 caused turnovers and leads all field players with 46 ground balls.
- Cade Galko has added 44 ground balls, while also notching his first career goal this season.
- In net, Brady Smith has played over 800 minutes across 15 games, making 141 saves with an 11.03 goals-against average and .486 save percentage.

All-Championship Team
Four Great Danes were recognized on the America East All-Championship Team following the program's title run. Freshman goalkeeper
Brady Smith was named the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player after delivering standout performances in both rounds - recording 13 saves and allowing just seven goals in the Championship and stopping nine shots in the Semifinal win over UMBC.
He was joined on the All-Championship Team by
Silas Richmond,
Max Neeson, and
Jacob Smith for their key contributions throughout the tournament.
All-Conference
UAlbany collected 12 awards last week when the America East released its end-of-year honors. Headlining the list were
Silas Richmond (Offensive Player of the Year) and
Max Neeson (Defensive Player of the Year).
Richmond and Neeson were both named All-Conference First Team selections alongside
Daniel Kesselring and
Conner Fingar. Earning All-Conference Second Team recognition was
Ryan Doherty,
Jackson Palumb, and
Jacob Smith. Freshman goalkeeper
Brady Smith was named to the America East All-Rookie Team. Doherty and
Cade Galko represented the Great Danes on the All-Academic Team.
Last Time Out
The No. 3 University at Albany men's lacrosse team earned its second straight America East Championship on Saturday, defeating the Bryant Bulldogs by a score of 12-7. A big performance by the whole team led the Great Danes to a first half shutout. After struggling early in the second half, the Great Danes settled down and claimed their 11
th America East title in program history.

History with Siena
UAlbany holds a 13-2 all-time record against Siena, including a 10-1 mark at home and a 3-1 record on the road. The Great Danes have won each of the last four meetings, with Siena's most recent win coming in 2013.
The two teams last faced off on March 2, 2022, when UAlbany secured an 11-7 win at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium. Across the 15 total matchups, UAlbany has consistently had the upper hand, highlighted by dominant victories such as a 23-7 road win in 2015 and a 22-5 result in the first meeting back in 2000.
Scouting the Saints
Siena enters the NCAA Opening Round with an 11-4 overall record and a 7-1 mark in MAAC play. The Saints are riding an eight-game win streak and recently defeated Sacred Heart, 12-8, in the MAAC Championship. The Championship win was the team's first in 11 seasons.
- Head Coach Liam Gleason has guided Siena to one of its strongest seasons in recent program history.
- The Saints are averaging 14.07 goals per game while allowing just 10.00. They own a .325 shooting percentage and a .869 clear rate.
- Siena is 18-for-48 on man-up opportunities this season, converting at a .375 clip.
- Offensively, Pratt Reynolds leads the way with 58 points on 55 goals and three assists. He's followed by Ryan McCarthy with 57 points (11g, 46a), Conor Hufnagel with 50 points (33g, 17a), and Patrick Radomski with 45 points (31g, 14a).
- At the faceoff X, Logan Banek has taken the majority of draws, winning 224 of 364 attempts for a .616-win percentage. Sean Miller (15-30, .500) and Tyler Kuprianchik (5-9, .556) have also contributed.
- Starting goalkeeper Andrew Arcuri has played over 880 minutes, posting a 9.67 goals-against average and a .559 save percentage with an 11-4 record in net.
