ALBANY, N.Y. – In its third-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament, No.14 seed University at Albany men's basketball (24-8) will meet No. 3 seed Oklahoma (24-10) in the NCAA Second Round on Friday, March 20 in Columbus, Ohio at Nationwide Arena. Game time and TV information is forthcoming.
UAlbany was selected as the No. 14 seed in the East Regional after winning the America East Championship yesterday on a game winning shot from Peter Hooley. The winner of the match-up on Friday faces either No. 6 seed Providence, or the winner of No. 11 Boise State vs. No. 11 Dayton on Sunday, March 22.
In its five NCAA Division I Tournament appearances, this is the second-highest seed for Will Brown's squad. The Danes were a No. 16 seed in 2014 and 2006, a 15-seed in 2013 and a program-best No. 13 in 2007. In 2007, the Purple & Gold faced No. 4 seed Virginia in Columbus as part of the South Region, falling 84-57.
The Sooners fell 67-65 in the Big 12 Semifinals to eventual champion No. 13/15 Iowa State. Oklahoma went 12-6 in conference play this season.
