Nicole Otero Picks Up Fifth America East Volleyball Defensive Specialist of the Week Honor
BOSTON – Nicole Otero has been named the America East Defensive Specialist of the Week for the fifth time this season.
This is UAlbany's 13th America East weekly honor this season and sixth defensive specialist of the week award. Otero has five, with Amanda Dolan having the sixth.
The freshman libero held down the back row in two wins over the weekend vs. Stony Brook and UMBC, sending UAlbany into first place in the America East.
Otero earned 20+ digs in both matches, finishing with 49 digs, five assists and a 96.9% receiving rate. She had a perfect receive rate in the win over Stony Brook and had 23 digs in the three-set win vs. UMBC.
Otero and the Great Danes will play one more regular season match at UMass Lowell on Friday before preparing for the America East Tournament.
