Men's Basketball Celebrates 2014-15 Campaign in SEFCU Arena Opener Against Colgate on Thursday

ALBANY, N.Y. – University at Albany men's basketball (0-2) hosts Colgate (1-1) for its 2015-16 home season opener on Thursday night at 7:00pm. The Great Danes will unveil the 2014-15 America East Championship and NCAA Tournament banners in the rafters of SEFCU Arena before the 7:05pm tip.
STUDENTS: Admission is free to all basketball games with valid SUNY ID. There will also be free pizza and Growl Towels for the first 500 students in the PE Building starting at 6:00pm.

SCOUTING COLGATE
Two seasons ago in SEFCU Arena, Colgate handed UAlbany a 69-60 loss on its home floor. The Danes surrendered a regular season high 28 three-point attempts to the Raiders, with Colgate making 13 treys. UAlbany took its fourth win in the last five meetings last season, 75-71 thanks to 14 points each from Hooley, Singletary and Ray Sanders.
To date, Matt Langel's squad is averaging a Patriot-League best 41 rebounds per game, on top of making 8.5 threes per game. The Raiders downed George Mason 66-53 on the road on Friday the 13th, handing former Bucknell head coach Dave Paulsen his first loss at the helm of the Patriots.

CELEBRATING A BANNER YEAR
Winning his second America East regular season title, head coach Will Brown amassed his 200th career win en route to a program-best 15-1 league record in 2014-15. The Purple & Gold went undefeated in January and won 13 straight games. UAlbany men's basketball captured its third-consecutive and fifth overall America East title on March 14, 2015 against Stony Brook. The Danes went on to the NCAA Second Round in Columbus, Ohio as the No. 14 seed to face Oklahoma.
THROWBACK TO BU
Despite the 69-64 loss on Tuesday, Greig Stire recorded a career-high nine rebounds, including seven on the offensive glass. Mike Rowley went for 15 & 8 to notch a new career high in points and match his career best in rebounds. Travis Charles finished with 14 points on 7-for-10 from the field.
SHAKING THE 60'S
Last season, UAlbany went 13-2 when scoring between 60 and 69 points. The only 2014-15 losses in the 60's came at the hands of Providence 64-60 in the season opener, and against Oklahoma 69-60 in the NCAA Second Round. The Danes are currently 0-2 when scoring in the 60's, totaling 65 points at Kentucky and 64 at Boston University.
WHO'S-WHO HOOLEY
Peter Hooley recorded his ninth consecutive game in double figures on Monday night. The senior guard went for 15 points on 8-for-10 from the free throw line. His total against the Terriers put him at 1,141 career points, two shy of passing assistant coach Jon Iati on Division I career scoring list for the No. 7 spot. Hooley is also eighth all-time in made free throws, totaling 313 to date.
