Nicole Otero Selected as America East Volleyball Defensive Specialist of the Week for the Sixth Time
ALBANY, N.Y. – Nicole Otero continues to earn America East awards, being named the league's Defensive Specialist of the Week for the sixth time this season.
UAlbany has earned 14 America East weekly awards, including seven defensive specialist honors. Otero has six and Amanda Dolan has one. UAlbany has seven of the 12 possible defensive specialist of the week honors this year.
The freshman libero was UAlbany's libero in the team's shutout victory at UMass Lowell. The win secured UAlbany's share of the 2015 America East regular season title.
In the three-set win, Otero averaged almost seven digs per set, finishing with 20 digs and adding five assists. In addition, she also had a perfect serve receive percentage.
Otero and the Great Danes will prepare for the America East Tournament, taking on Stony Brook on Friday, November 20th at 4 p.m. at the Lundholm Gymnasium in Durham, New Hampshire.
