UAlbany Set to Host First All-Time America East Field Hockey Championship on ESPN3 in November
BOSTON, MASS.- In a flagship move for America East field hockey, No. 6 University at Albany will not only host the America East Tournament on Nov. 5-8, but it will also be the first to broadcast the championship final on Nov. 8 at noon on ESPN3, the league announced Thursday.
Coming off of an appearance in the 2014 NCAA Semifinals, the Danes welcome an eight-team America East Tournament field to Alumni Turf this November. The four Western Division schools: Cal, UC Davis, Pacific and Stanford; as well as the top four qualifiers out of the East: UAlbany, Maine, UMass Lowell, New Hampshire and Vermont. UMass Lowell is eligible for the postseason in any sport America East sport for the first time in 2015 field hockey.
The Nov. 8 championship match-up is slated for a noon start at Alumni Turf.
UAlbany and Stanford are currently nationally ranked at No. 6 and No. 9, respectively. As a group, the America East schools boast six victories over nationally ranked opponents. Cal and UAlbany are at the top of divisional play thus far with records of 2-0.
