Amanda Dolan Named America East Volleyball Defensive Specialist of the Week

BOSTON – After a pair of five-set victories over the weekend, UAlbany middle blocker Amanda Dolan has been selected as the America East Defensive Specialist of the Week.

This is Dolan's first America East weekly honor of the season and third of her career, earning two Rookie of the Week awards in 2013.  As a team, UAlbany has seven America East weekly honors in 2015, including three defensive specialist awards, with the other two going to Nicole Otero.

The junior middle led UAlbany to a couple of road wins over the weekend over UMBC and Stony Brook, each in five sets, to put UAlbany in second place.  This season, UAlbany is 3-0 in road conference matches.

Dolan earned eight blocks in each match, totaling 16 on the weekend.  Six of her 16 blocks came in the decisive fifth set, including the final point of the Stony Brook match.  She also hit .333 during the week with 21 kills.

Dolan and the Great Danes will play one match this weekend, hosting UMass Lowell on Sunday, October 18th at 2 p.m.
