Women's Golf Places 2nd in UAlbany Quad-Match

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany women's golf team placed second out of four competing teams Sunday at Albany Country Club, shooting a 330 in the 18-hole match. The Great Danes beat out Niagara (336) and cross-town rival Siena (338), while Brown took the crown with a 325.
Freshman Annie Lee and sophomore Paige Fujihara both shot an 81 to lead UAlbany. Sophomores Nicolette Darois and Rosalee Hearns followed, each with an 84, while freshman Tiffany Kuroki rounded out the Danes' lineup with an 85.
“Overall, I think the team has come a long way in a year's time,” said Head Coach Colleen Cashman-McSween in her second season at the helm. “Our performance today was very consistent – a few costly mistakes – but overall a job very well done.”
UAlbany cut 17 strokes off last year's dual match at Albany CC, in which Siena came away with the win.
“It has been a long time since UAlbany has beaten Siena, so that was a nice victory,” added Cashman-McSween. “The UAlbany family should be very proud today of these ladies. I am.”
Brown's Christine Kim had the top score of the afternoon, accruing a 77, while teammate Rosie Lederhausen had the shot of the day -- a hole-in-one on 16.
Up next, UAlbany competes in the Yale Women's Intercollegiate Sept. 26-28 at the Yale Golf Course in New Haven, Conn.
