Morrison Named CAA Defensive Player of the Week

CAA RELEASE

RICHMOND, Va. – Announced by the conference office Monday, University at Albany football player Neil Morrison has been named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week.

Morrison's last minute heroics gave UAlbany a 14-13 stunning win over Holy Cross in the 2014 season-opener Saturday, as he recovered a fumble for a 79-yard touchdown with 44 seconds remaining in the contest.

A native of Miramar, Fla., Morrison also totaled eight tackles, including four solo and one for a loss. The outside linebacker helped the UAlbany defense hold Holy Cross to an average of just 2.9 yards on 41 rushing attempts in the game.

Morrison marks the first CAA Defensive Player of the Week in UAlbany program history, and the second to earn CAA weekly honors. Omar Osbourne was named the Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 9, 2013.

Morrison and the rest of the Great Danes look to keep the momentum going Saturday when they travel to Central Connecticut State for another non-conference clash.
