Honolulu, Hawai'i - UAlbany
had a trio of players with six kills apiece, but dropped the second match of
the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Invitational to #6 Stanford, 3-0, on Saturday
evening at the Stan Sheriff Center. Stanford posted set scores of 25-14, 25-7,
25-15 for the win.
Seniors Traci Vandegrift and Dunja Prgomet, along with
sophomore Sara Pope, all led the Great Danes offensively with six kills each.
Newcomer Viktoriia Stroilo finished with a match-high 15 digs from the libero
position, while setter Sofia Furlong recorded 21 assists, three digs, two kills
and one block assist. Senior Gabby Whitworth teamed up with Furlong on the
block, while also smacking four kills and coming up with two digs.
Stanford (2-0) was led by Jordan Burgess with 14 kills on
.600 hitting. Burgess also recorded 11 digs to complete a double-double for the
Cardinal. Setter Karissa Cook totaled 30 assists and two of Stanford's six
service aces, while Brittany Howard added nine kills. The Cardinal hit .411 as
a team and had four total blocks.

(0-2) will wrap up play in Honolulu
on Sunday evening, taking on St. Mary's at 2:30 p.m. (8:30 p.m. EST).
