The game remained scoreless until the 33rd minute as Syracuse's Amy Kee scored her first goal on the season with a pass from Heather Susek. UAlbany responded less than a minute later when Christina Patrick took a pass from sophomore Corrine McConville and found the back of the cage.

     In the second stanza, the Great Danes took the lead on Patrick's unassisted goal at the 42:20 mark, making their shot-to-goal ratio in the game 2 for 2. Again, little time would pass before the equalizer goal was scored; the Orange tallied off a long pass to give Husek her third point of the game and ninth goal on the season. The game winner came off a short-range shot from Kelsey Millman with the assist to Leonie Geyer, giving Syracuse the 3-2 non-conference win.

     "We continue to fight hard and play well as a team, but haven't got over the hump," said UAlbany Head Coach Phil Sykes. "We hope to reel things in as conference play gets into full swing."

     UAlbany (8-5) record its second-straight loss in close-fought games. The team only had three shots on goal and garnered no penalty corners. Syracuse, moving 10-2 on the season, had 12 shots with nine making the target and five penalty corners.

     Between the pipes, UAlbany's Kristi Troch put up a good fight with nine saves. For the Orange, keepers Leann Stiver and Rachel Sayer split time, with Sayer making the lone save.

     The Great Danes will take a few days off before playing their second conference match, as they host Fairfield Saturday, October 8th with a 4:00 p.m. start.
