Katie Abrahamson-Henderson served as the head coach of the UAlbany women’s basketball program from 2010 to 2016. During her six-season tenure, she compiled a 146–47 overall record, won five consecutive America East Tournament Championships, and secured the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament victory.
In her first season (2010–11), Abrahamson-Henderson led the Great Danes to a 16–14 overall record and a 9–7 mark in America East play, finishing fifth in the conference with no postseason appearance.
The 2011–12 season saw the program finish 23–10 overall and 14–2 in the conference. The team captured its first America East Tournament title and made its inaugural NCAA Tournament appearance, falling in the First Round.
During the 2012–13 season, UAlbany achieved a 27–4 record and went undefeated in conference play at 16–0. They won both the regular season and tournament titles, returning to the NCAA Tournament for a First-Round exit.
In 2013–14, the team posted a 28–5 record with a 15–1 conference mark. They secured another regular season and tournament sweep, ending the year with a First-Round loss in the NCAA Tournament.
The 2014–15 campaign resulted in a 24–9 record and a 14–2 conference finish. The Great Danes earned a share of the regular season title and won their fourth straight tournament championship, followed by a First Round NCAA Tournament appearance.
In her final season (2015–16), Abrahamson-Henderson led UAlbany to a 28–5 record and a 15–1 conference standing. After winning a fifth consecutive America East Tournament title, the team earned a 12-seed and recorded the first NCAA Tournament win in program history by defeating Florida in the First Round before falling in the Second Round.
Abrahamson-Henderson's tenure remains one of the most decorated eras in UAlbany Athletics history. Her leadership transformed the women's basketball program into a mid-major powerhouse, characterized by a dominant 83–13 record in America East conference play. By securing five consecutive conference tournament titles and achieving the program's landmark first NCAA Tournament victory, she established a standard of excellence that ranks her among the most successful coaches to ever lead a Great Dane program.
