Former Great Dane standout Ashley Vives begins her second season on the staff of the UAlbany track & field team and first as the director of operations after assisting Roberto Vives, her father, with coaching the sprinters last year.

An all-conference selection in multiple relay events and team captain, Vives competed on two outdoor relay squads that broke school records during the 2007 campaign. She ran on the sprint medley relay (3:55.87) and the 4x400-meter relay (3:48.33) which set new standards at Penn Relays and the America East Conference Championship, respectively.

Vives, who was a member of both of the Great Danes' America East outdoor championship squads and set seven school records at Shenendehowa High School, earned her bachelor's degree in studio art with a minor in business administration in December 2008.
