Tim Hart is in his third season as assistant men's soccer coach for the Great Danes. Hart's primary focus is on the goalkeepers.
In 2012, Hart groomed sophomore Tim Allen into an America East Conference All-Rookie selection. Allen tallied three clean sheets and recorded 94 saves. The Brisbane, Australian, native held opponents to a 1.36 goals per game.
He coached Adrian Foncette, Scott Kessler and Tim Mingione during the 2011 season. UAlbany was able to record four shutouts (all by Foncette) and hold opponents to a 1.57 goals against average. Two key shutouts that UAlbany recorded were against the current defending America East Conference Champions, Stony Brook, 0-0 in the regular season and New Hampshire, 1-0, which locked the Great Danes into the final spot of the tournament.
Tim Hart was appointed as assistant men's soccer coach and as a member of head coach Trevor Gorman's staff in August 2011. Hart was previously the head coach of Holy Names University, a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) school located in Oakland, Calif.
During Hart's three seasons at Holy Names, he led his squad to three national tournament appearances and compiled a 42-13-4 record in that span. He was named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Far West Region NAIA Coach of the Year when he brought his club to the national quarterfinals, which was the best finish in program history. Hart consistently brought his Holy Names' squad to the California Pacific Conference championship in all three years.
As a collegiate soccer player, Hart attended Rio Grande University in Ohio for two years before transferring to Holy Names. Originally from Coventry, England, he grew up playing in the Aston Villa and Derby County Football Clubs before signing an apprentice contract with Shrewsbury Town.
Hart received a B.A. in psychology from Holy Names in 2007 and a master's in education from from the same school three years later. He has earned his National, Advanced National, and Premier Diplomas from the NSCAA.
"Tim is an outstanding addition to our UAlbany program", said Gorman, who is in his first season as head coach. "He grew up playing at the highest level in England and won a national championship as a player in college. At Holy Names his success speaks for itself and his experiences will prove valuable in our development."
