Akeem
Cedeno is in his third year on the UAlbany staff. He coaches the tight ends for
the third year in a row after previously handling the outside linebackers.
Cedeno was an assistant for two years at Amherst College in Massachusetts.
Cedeno coached the outside linebackers and served as
assistant director of football operations at Amherst, a Division III program.
He also assisted with the defensive line and special teams, including the
kickoff and punt return units and the field goal and point-after attempt
squads. He was responsible for weekly defensive video editing and game
breakdowns and worked on scouting reports. His recruiting territory covered
California, Colorado, Maine, Vermont and the Southeast. In addition, he was the
Lord Jeffs' assistant wrestling coach.
In 2008, Amherst finished with a 5-3 record and placed
third in the NESCAC standings. The Lord Jeffs produced a conference-high four
defensive players on the All-NESCAC first team, including outside linebackers
Guy Matisis and Jake Spadafora. The defense ranked third nationally in rushing
yards allowed (60.9 ypg) and 12th in total yards (260.4 ypg).
A native of Lauderhill, Fla., Cedeno was a three-year
starter on the defensive line at Division III Norwich University, where he
earned a B.S. in criminal justice in 2007. As a captain and defensive tackle,
Cedeno was voted to the Empire 8 all-conference second team. He is currently
pursuing a master's degree in educational administration at UAlbany.
