UAlbany men's soccer won 10 games for the first time since the 2017 season, and for the fourth time under head coach Trevor Gorman. Senior midfielder Haflidi Sigurdarson had a hot start to the season, scoring the game-winning goal in each of UAlbany's first three victories, over Farfield in the season-opener, at Villanova, and in overtime against Marist. Each of UAlbany's 10 wins on the season came by one goal, and 14 of 18 total games were decided by one goal or fewer. The Great Danes played four overtime games in 2021, winning their first three and tying their fourth. UAlbany's season came to an end in the America East quarterfinal round, where the Great Danes made their first appearance after a one-year hiatus. Finally, UAlbany reached a high-water mark of fourth in the United Soccer Coaches Northeast regional rankings, hitting the number on Weeks 2, 3, and 5.
