Hamilton, N.Y. - In the deciding match, Becky Silvers posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Rachel Drake at No. 6 singles to lead Colgate to a 4-3 win over UAlbany at Sanford Field House on Wednesday evening. Silvers also teamed up with Jen Marquit for an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles to give Colgate the doubles point.
UAlbany's Sarah Iannone posted a 6-2, 6-1 straight-set win over Stephanie Brown at No. 3 singles, while Melissa Coughlin recorded a 6-1, 7-5 win over Marquit at fifth singles for the Great Danes. Aubrey Brooks needed three sets, but earned UAlbany's third point of the match with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 defeat of Kelsey Shea at the No. 4 position.
In doubles action, Susan Ma and Brooks combined for an 8-4 win over Alex Petrini and Brown, but Stephanie Bender and Shea recorded an 8-4 win over Laine Mackey and Coughlin at No. 2 doubles. Silvers and Marquit sealed up the win for Colgate with a defeat of Iannone and Drake at the third doubles position.
UAlbany (0-4) will return to action on Saturday, hosting Marist at 2 p.m.
