ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany athletics programs have earned seven SUNY Scholar-Athlete honors as announced by Chancellor John B. King, Jr. from the SUNY System.
Honored for combining academic achievement with success in the arena of athletic competition during the third year of selection of the SUNY Scholar-Athlete Awards, the awards honor 17 Division I sports, with four additional at-large categories, throughout the fall, winter, and spring seasons.
Leaders in the classroom and on their field of competition,
Shynelle Woroniuk (volleyball),
Pilar Lorenzini (fall women's at-large),
Amir Lindsey (men's basketball),
Max Neeson (men's lacrosse),
Brooks Robson (men's outdoor track and field),
Lalenii Grant (women's outdoor track and field), and
Skylar Dannan (spring women's at-large) were honored with their respective sports' awards.
Skylar Dannan - Women's Rowing (Spring Women's At-Large), Sophomore
A College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District selection, Dannan was a key member of UAlbany's Varsity Eight throughout the 2025-26 season, helping the Great Danes reach the Grand Final at the CAA Championship and the Bergman Trophy Grand Final at the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta. She also competed at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta and helped the Varsity Eight capture titles at the John Ferriss Regatta and the Mohawk Fall Classic.
A human biology major, Dannan earned her first SUNY Scholar-Athlete honor.
Lalenii Grant - Women's Outdoor Track and Field, Sophomore
Lalenii Grant continued the prowess she displayed as a rookie into her sophomore season. After spending the winter learning new throwing events, she returned to her premiere event, discus throw, for her second consecutive America East title and NCAA East Prelims appearance. Holding the new AE Championship Meet record in discus, Grant finished the season ranked top 15 in all three events she competed, two of which are new to her - discus (first), shot put (ninth), and hammer throw (14th).
Working for a near-perfect GPA,
Lalenii Grant has won her first SUNY Scholar-Athlete award.
Amir Lindsey - Men's Basketball, Sophomore
A CSC Academic All-District and America East All-Academic selection, Lindsey earned First Team All-America East honors after leading the conference in scoring (17.9 ppg), total points (554), field goals made (195), and field goals attempted (436). He also ranked second in the league with 4.9 assists per game while finishing sixth nationally in minutes per game, recording 13 games of 20 or more points during the season.
A business management major, Lindsey earned his first SUNY Scholar-Athlete honor.
Pilar Lorenzini - Field Hockey (Fall Women's At-Large), Junior
The America East Defensive Player of the Year made her mark in her first year at UAlbany. A junior transfer, Lorenzini opened the season with six goals in three games. She finished the season fourth in the America East in goals per game and points per game while backing a defense that allowed a conference-low 1.58 goals per game. Lorenzini was also named First Team All-Conference, NFHCA Second Team All-Region, and America East All-Academic for her efforts.
Earning her degree in business administration, Lorenzini's first SUNY Scholar-Athlete honor is the latest in a long list of awards from her first season at UAlbany.
Max Neeson - Men's Lacrosse, Senior
The America East Defensive Player of the Year, Neeson earned First Team All-Conference honors while also being named an Honorable Mention All-American by both the USILA and USA Lacrosse. He started all 19 games for the Great Danes, leading the America East with 27 caused turnovers while adding 47 ground balls, six goals, and a spot on the America East All-Championship Team.
A senior human development major, this is Neeson's first SUNY Scholar-Athlete honor.
Brooks Robson - Men's Outdoor Track and Field, Redshirt-Junior
Brooks Robson shined in his first outdoor season as a Great Dane. The 2026 America East Long Jump Champion also medaled in the triple jump, an event he learned just this year. To wrap up the season, the Vermont native qualified for NCAA regionals in triple jump and nearly qualified in long jump with a mark ranked in UAlbany's all-time top 10.
Earning his degree in business administration, this is Robson's first SUNY Scholar-Athlete honor.
Shynelle Woroniuk - Women's Volleyball, Graduate
A long-time captain,
Shynelle Woroniuk led the women's volleyball team on multiple levels. On the court, she completed her career with her second First Team All-Conference nod from the America East before leading her team to their second consecutive conference championship appearance. In her final season, the well-rounded athlete ranked second in the league in kills per set and points per set while being one of the team leaders in digs per set, blocks, and service aces.
Having recently graduated with her Master's of Business Administration, this is Woroniuk's first SUNY Scholar-Athlete honor.
The SUNY Scholar Athlete Awards recognized 71 student-athletes from SUNY colleges and universities sponsoring intercollegiate athletics at the four- and two-year levels who were nominated and voted upon by representatives of their respective institutions.
More than 14,000 student-athletes compete at SUNY institutions representing 53 different colleges and universities at the NCAA Division I, NCAA Division III/USCAA, and NJCAA levels and are eligible for the awards.
A formal announcement with all honorees, including two selected as the overall winners, will be published in July 2026.
