"Vic's inclusion on this list is a well-deserved recognition of his dedication, strategic vision, and leadership within our department," said Director of Athletics Mark Benson. "His impact on our external operations, revenue generation, and sport programs has been instrumental to the success of UAlbany Athletics, and he undoubtedly represents the future of athletic administration."
Â
Cegles joined UAlbany Athletics in February 2016 as the Associate Athletic Director for Revenue Enhancement before being elevated to his current role as Deputy Athletic Director in October 2019. As a core member of the department's leadership team, Cegles oversees all external areas, including marketing, communications, and ticket operations, while driving strategic incentives to grow departmental revenue.
Â
In addition to his external leadership, Cegles directs all corporate sales initiatives, serves as the department's liaison to apparel provider Under Armour, and manages future football scheduling. He also holds sport supervisory responsibilities for the Great Danes' football, men's basketball, and men's lacrosse programs.
Â
Prior to his tenure in the Capital Region, Cegles served as the Director of External Relations at the University of Minnesota, where he was a major gift fundraiser and oversaw premium seating sales for Gopher Athletics. He also spent time as the Assistant Athletic Director for Development at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), managing day-to-day operations for the Ram Athletic Fund, premium seating, and major gifts after starting his career in the VCU ticket office in 2009.
Â
A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Cegles has deep roots in intercollegiate athletics. His father, Vic Cegles, enjoyed a nearly 40-year career in athletic administration, retiring from UConn in 2019 after serving a decade as the Athletic Director at Long Beach State. His brother, Casey, also serves as the Deputy Athletic Director at Towson University.
Â
Cegles was a standout student-athlete at Rutgers University, where he lettered as a second baseman for the Scarlet Knights and earned his degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in Sport Management. Following his collegiate career, he signed a free-agent contract with the Washington Nationals, playing a summer with the Gulf Coast Nationals. He later earned his master's degree from VCU's Center for Sport Leadership in 2013.
