Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team split Sunday's America East doubleheader against Binghamton, dropping game one before rallying late for an 11-9 comeback win in the nightcap on Senior Day.
Coach Jon Mueller: "Great team win today. All the seniors played a part in both games. [Dylan] Banner pitched great in game 1 but we didn't hit. Game two was a combo of all of them who contributed to the win. Heading to third consecutive conference tournament with nothing to lose. I'm very proud of the guys, they punched their own ticket."
Game One Key Stats:
- UAlbany Pitchers:
- Patrick DeSarno and Tre Mariano each recorded a pair of hits.
- John Vitucci drove in the lone UAlbany run with an RBI single.
- Banner tossed a complete game and retired 10 of the final 12 batters he faced.
Game One How it Happened:
- Binghamton got on the board in the top of the second with a two-RBI single from Steven Kraus before Tim Hennig added an RBI triple to make it 3-0 early.
- The Great Danes threatened in the second after Tre Mariano singled and John Vitucci walked, but the Bearcats escaped the inning without damage.
- Dylan Banner settled in after the second inning and kept Binghamton off the board for the remainder of the game, allowing UAlbany to stay within striking distance.
- UAlbany broke through in the bottom of the sixth when Levi McAllister reached on a fielder's choice before Tre Mariano and John Vitucci delivered back-to-back singles, with Vitucci driving in the run to cut the deficit to 3-1.
- The Great Danes were unable to rally further in the seventh, and Binghamton secured the opener by a score of 3-1.

- Levi McAllister drove in four runs, including the game-winning RBIs in the eighth inning.
- Luke Filippi went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
- Tre Mariano homered and recorded a pair of hits.
- Cooper Loyal tallied two RBIs and scored twice.
- Brian Guerrero added a pair of hits and scored two runs.
Game Two How it Happened:
- Binghamton opened the scoring in the second inning when Zack Kent came around to score on a throwing error to make it 1-0.
- The Bearcats added two more in the third on a Steven Kraus two-RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0.
- UAlbany answered in the bottom of the inning when John Vitucci ripped an RBI single through the right side before Cooper Loyal scored on a passed ball to cut the deficit to 3-2.
- Tre Mariano tied the game in the fourth with a solo home run before the Great Danes exploded for five runs later in the inning. Luke Filippi delivered a two-RBI single and Levi McAllister followed with a two-run single down the left field line to give UAlbany a 7-3 lead.
- Binghamton responded with a five-run fifth inning, highlighted by a Tommy Popoff three-run homer, to retake the lead 8-7. The Bearcats added another run in the sixth to push the advantage to 9-7.
- The Great Danes mounted their comeback in the bottom of the eighth when Michael Maggio, Brian Guerrero, and Luke Filippi opened the inning with consecutive singles. Cooper Loyal tied the game with a two-RBI single before Levi McAllister drove in the go-ahead runs later in the frame to give UAlbany an 11-9 lead.
- Jameson Walsh shut the door in the ninth inning to secure the Senior Day victory and doubleheader split for UAlbany.
