Men’s Lacrosse Overcomes Siena in Inaugural LarGer Than Life Game

Short Story:
 The University at Albany men's lacrosse team bested Siena in a tight contest on a very emotional Tuesday night. Both teams honored Liam Gleason, former UAlbany player and assistant coach, and former Siena head coach, in the inaugural "LarGer Than Life" game.

How it Happened:  
  • Ben Wimmer struck first at 12:57 to put the Great Danes ahead early.
  • First round PLL draft pick, Silas Richmond, added a second goal to UAlbany's tally around the eight-minute mark.
  • The Saints got their first goal of the game with about four and a half minutes left in the first quarter.
  • With just over two minutes left in the quarter, Matthew Pettis found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season, which extended the Great Danes' lead back to two.
  • Siena recorded a pair of goals in the first five minutes of the second to bring the score even at three a piece.
  • Max Neeson ripped in his fourth long-pole-goal of the season to put UAlbany back on top. Shortly after, Ryan Doherty extended the Great Danes' lead back to two.  
  • Once again, the Saints produced a pair of goals to tie up the game, 5-5, going into halftime.
  • Siena took their first lead of the matchup, 6-5, a couple minutes into the second half, but Doherty put one in the back of the net shortly after to bring the score even, 6-6.
  • With just under three minutes left in the third, Daniel Kessering netted his first goal of the game, but Travis Fry responded quickly for the Saints, tying the game at 7-7 going into the final quarter of play.
  • James Reid recorded his first goal of the season, before Brendan O'Keefe followed with his fourth to secure the win for the Great Danes, 9-7
 
Next: The Great Danes travel to Yale for their final non-conference matchup of the regular season. Faceoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
