BOSTON – University at Albany men's lacrosse student-athlete
Max Neeson has been named the America East Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning. This is Neeson's first weekly award of 2026.
Â
Neeson recorded two caused turnovers and two ground balls in UAlbany's 10-6 win over UMBC. The defensive unit as a whole performed at a high level with Neeson as the anchor, allowing a season-low six goals. After allowing three goals in the first, the defense buckled down to allow just one goal in the second and no goals in the third to help the offense build an unsurmountable lead. The win was the second in a row for the Great Danes, who are now a perfect 2-0 in conference play after a 13-7 win over Bryant the week prior.
Â
The team returns to action this Saturday, March 28, with a trip to UMass Lowell. The game is set to start at 4:00 p.m. from the Cushing Field Complex in Lowell.
