Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team stayed within striking distance early, but a big fifth inning from Army West Point proved to be the difference on Wednesday afternoon.
Coach Jon Mueller: "We gave away too many free passes early and had some miscues which blew up innings. Onto NJIT for our conference opener this weekend."

- UAlbany struck first in the opening inning when Cooper Loyal came around to score on an RBI groundout from Levi McAllister to take a 1-0 lead.
- Army responded in the bottom half, capitalizing on a defensive miscue to even the score at 1-1.
- Brian Cadieux got the start on the mound before Jameson Walsh entered in relief in the third inning and delivered two scoreless frames to keep the Great Danes within reach.
- Army took control in the second inning, scoring three runs on a two-RBI triple and aggressive baserunning to build a 4-1 advantage.
- Tre Mariano provided a spark in the fourth inning, launching a solo home run to left field to cut the deficit to 4-2.
- Zach Nalawadi took over on the mound in the fifth inning, where Army broke the game open with an eight-run frame, highlighted by a three-run home run from Josiah Overbeek.
- Ethan Nardacci entered in the sixth inning and held Army scoreless the rest of the way, but the early damage proved too much to overcome.
