Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team battled through 13 innings on Friday afternoon to earn its first win of the season, defeating Yale 4-2 behind a clutch two-run single from freshman

Coach Jon Mueller: "We talked before the game and said the toughest team usually wins in these conditions. Tremendous on the mound from all four guys.
Cooper Loyal continues to be a dominant defender and we did just enough offensively at the end to close it."

- Michael Maggio led the Great Danes with three hits and a run scored.
- Levi McAllister recorded two hits and drove in the tying run in the sixth inning.

How it Happened:
- Yale opened the scoring in the first inning on a sacrifice fly from Jack Dauer to take a one run lead.
- Christian Mello started on the mound for the Great Danes and limited the Bulldogs to one run through four innings.
- Matthew Mariano entered in relief in the fifth inning and immediately settled in, retiring the side and keeping Yale off the board.
- UAlbany tied the game in the sixth inning when Cooper Loyal and Logan Morris recorded back-to-back hits before Levi McAllister singled to left to score Loyal and make it 1-1.
- Later in the inning, John Vitucci lifted a sacrifice fly to center field that brought Morris home and gave the Great Danes a 2-1 lead.
- Yale evened the score in the seventh inning when Owen Turner doubled and later stole home to make it 2-2.
- Mariano continued to dominate on the mound for UAlbany, working through the middle and late innings while striking out six to keep the Bulldogs from reclaiming the lead and sending the game into extras.
- Alex Enea entered in relief in the 12th inning and tossed a scoreless frame to keep the game tied heading into the 13th.
- UAlbany broke through in the 13th inning. Jaxon Mueller reached base before Michael Maggio singled to put runners on the corners.
- With two outs, freshman Brian Guerrero lined a two-run single to center field, scoring Mueller and Maggio to give the Great Danes a 4-2 lead.
- Tyler Kneller entered in the bottom of the 13th and struck out the final batter to secure UAlbany's first win of the season.
